On 21 November 2006, the 89th Macdill Aviation Cadet Squadron (89th MACS) changed hands as Maj Larry Lynch turned command of the squadron over to Capt Jack Knowles. Maj Lynch will be resuming his former post as the unit's Aerospace Education Officer (AEO). Capt Knowles, a former CAP senior squadron commander in Miami and a cadet brings many years of professional knowledge to the unit. Lt Col Billy Westcott, Group III Commander, presided over the change of command ceremony.
